NotHungry respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. NotHungry is an AI calorie and nutrition tracker. We're here to give you an honest record of what you eat, not to sell your data.
1 Information We Collect
- Account details: name, email, and password.
- Food & nutrition data: the meals and foods you log, calories and macros, water intake, custom foods, and your calorie and macro targets.
- Food photos: images of your meals that you capture or upload so our AI can estimate the food, calories, and macros on your plate.
- Health data (optional): if you turn on Apple Health or Health Connect, the nutrition and related data you choose to sync.
- Technical data: when the app contacts our servers, our hosting provider processes your IP address and basic request information in order to deliver the response and protect against abuse.
- NotFit membership status: NotHungry is part of the NOT Ecosystem. Your NotFit access code and the email on your account are checked against NotFit to confirm an active membership.
- Waitlist and subscription details: if you request access without a NotFit membership, we store your email address, your place in the queue, and the date you joined. If you go on to subscribe, we store your subscription status, plan, renewal or expiry date, and the store that processed it. We never see or store your card details. See section 5.
2 How We Use Your Information
- To provide and improve food logging and nutrition tracking.
- To analyze your food photos and estimate calories and macros.
- To personalize your calorie and macro targets.
- To back up your food log to your account and keep it in step across your devices.
- To manage your place on the waitlist, and to check whether your membership or subscription is active.
- To communicate with you about updates, offers, or support.
- To keep the platform secure and prevent misuse.
3 Food Photos & AI Analysis
When you take or upload a photo of your food, the image is sent securely through our own server to our AI provider, OpenAI, to estimate the foods, portions, calories, and macros in your meal. We use this only to generate your nutrition estimate. We do not use your photos to identify you, and we do not sell them.
OpenAI does not keep your photo. The image is passed to them only to produce the estimate, and under our agreement it is not used to train their models.
We do store your meal photos, so they follow your account. A copy is kept on your device, and a copy is saved to our storage under your account so the same meal shows the right photo when you sign in on another device. Each photo is stored once, is readable only by your own account, and is deleted when you delete the meal it belongs to, or immediately, along with everything else, when you delete your account.

4 Apple Health & Health Connect
Health integration is off by default. NotHungry only reads from or writes to Apple Health (HealthKit) or Android Health Connect after you explicitly turn it on and grant permission.
- We use this data solely to display your nutrition information and to sync the food and water you log.
- We never sell health data, share it with third parties for advertising, or use it for any purpose other than the features you enabled.
- You can revoke access at any time in your device's Health settings or in NotHungry's settings.
5 Sharing of Information
We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited data with:
- Supabase: hosting, your account, and authentication.
- OpenAI: analysing the food photos you choose to take, as described in section 3.
- NotFit: confirming that your membership is active, using your access code and account email.
- USDA FoodData Central and Open Food Facts: looking up foods and barcodes. These receive only the search term or barcode, never anything that identifies you.
- RevenueCat and Stripe: if you subscribe, these handle the checkout and manage your subscription. Stripe processes the payment and is the only party that ever sees your card details; we never receive or store them. RevenueCat receives your account identifier and email so the subscription can be matched to your NotHungry account, and tells us whether it is active.
- SendGrid: delivering the emails we send you, such as confirming your address, resetting your password, and telling you when your place on the waitlist is ready. They receive your email address and the message itself.
- Legal authorities if required by law.
6 Data Storage and Security
- Your data is stored securely, with encryption in transit and at rest.
- Your food log lives on your device and is backed up to your account. The app works offline and keeps the record on your phone; while you are signed in, your meals, water, activity, custom foods, targets and meal photos are also saved to your account on our servers so nothing is lost if you change or lose your phone, and so the app looks the same on every device you sign in on.
- Only you can read it. Every row and every photo is locked to your account at the database level, so one account cannot read another's data even if it asks.
- Uninstalling the app removes the copy on that device, but not the copy in your account. To remove everything, delete your account. See Delete Account.
- How long we keep things: your account and everything in it (food log, photos, targets, waitlist and subscription records) is kept for as long as your account exists and are deleted immediately when you delete your account. Server logs used for security and troubleshooting are kept for up to 30 days.
- We take reasonable steps to protect against loss, misuse, or unauthorized access.
- You are responsible for keeping your login details safe.
7 Your Rights
Depending on your location, you have the right to:
- Access the data we hold about you.
- Request corrections or deletion of your data.
- Opt out of marketing communications.
- Withdraw consent for certain data uses.
You can delete your account and its data at any time from inside the app. See Delete Account.
8 Cookies and Tracking
Our website uses cookies and similar tools, which you can manage in your browser.
The NotHungry app itself contains no analytics, advertising or tracking software. We do not track you across other apps or websites, we do not build an advertising profile, and we do not share your data with data brokers. The app talks only to the services listed in section 5, and only to deliver the features you are using.
9 Third-Party Links
The app and website may link to third-party sites or services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices, and we encourage you to read their policies.
10 Children's Privacy
NotHungry is not designed for users under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.
11 Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app grows. If we make major changes, we will notify users.
